Job Description:

We are currently looking for a student assistant (16 hours/week) to support our scientific background work for climate litigation cases.

Climate Analytics provides independent scientific reports on the climate impacts of plaintiffs, as well as emission profiles, policy analysis and equitable fair share levels based on the Climate Action Tracker for countries that are taken to court.

To provide relevant information, we closely liaise with groups of lawyers and NGOs to provide relevant input, and to provide capacity building on the interpretation of the provided results.

Examples of our work can be found online such as the Children vs.

Climate Crisis case that was submitted to the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child or the Youth for Climate Justice case that is currently discussed at the ECHR.

Your Tasks
You will support the climate litigation work at Climate Analytics which includes:

  • Small content tasks based on interest and experience. These could include research on existing policies and targets, writing policy updates, and developing climate impact profiles
  • Calls with lawyers and drafting of offers
  • Lay outing and formatting final reports
  • Contribution to other science and policy projects
Your Profile
You will ideally have the following qualifications and skills:

  • You are enrolled as a student at least until the end of the summer semester of 2024 and have a background in environmental law or climate policy.
  • You ideally already have experience with climate litigation.
  • A good understanding of energyspecific policies and climate impacts is an asset.
  • Our working language is English. Therefore, fluency in English is necessary. German skills are an asset.
  • You have strong organisational skills.
  • You can show your lay outing and writing skills with attention to detail.
  • Basic programming skills in Python are an asset.
