Constructor University (formerly Jacobs University Bremen gGmbH)

is a private, state-accredited, English-language research university in Bremen.

We are offering PreDegree, Bachelor, Master or PhD programs in three schools:

School of Science, School of Computer Science & Engineering, School of Business, Social & Decision Sciences and are involved in the professional development of specialists and managers and in the transfer of knowledge.

Student Support Officer (m-f-d):

Your responsibilities:


  • Develop and oversee offcampus social support structures to integrate them with the university's mission as a lively social community that fosters personal development and ensures the physical comfort and wellbeing of its students.
  • Provide mentoring for students living in both universities provided and private to provide resolutions for interpersonal conflicts between students.
  • Collaborate with other university support staff as part of the Student Support Network in close collaboration with internal and external agencies.
  • Act as the key 'casehandler' in coordinating other colleagues and professionals involved in providing support to offcampus students.
  • Work together with the University ́s Housing department to provide support to students in finding and securing private accommodation.
  • Maintain and further develop partnerships with local external agencies and organizations to better serve the needs of our students.
  • Further develop and enforce residential and student life regulations in line with university policies and procedures.
  • Attend relevant training and professional development opportunities to grow this area of focus.

Your qualifications:


  • Master's degree or equivalent in social sciences and/or previous graduate with professional work experience in the social sector, education, or student affairs sector
  • Experience of working with international students
  • Experience and working knowledge of German social welfare and health support services and agencies.
  • Committed and selfmotivated educator with substantial social and community engagement experience and demonstrated leadership and supervisory abilities.
  • Administrative experience in residential/student life, development, welfare or in similar contexts in a higher education institution or university setting preferred.
  • Fluent English and German language skills both written and spoken.
  • Competence in computer skills including full Microsoft Office Suite, and experience with, or the ability to quickly learn, student database systems such as CampusNet and Mercury
