    Customs & Excise Manager

    Reports to General Manager

    Location: Hamburg

    Prax Group has announced it intends to acquire joint ownership of PCK Raffinerie GmbH (PCK) from Shell Deutschland. As a result, we will be setting up an associated wholesale business to buy and sell crude oil and refined products.

    We are now looking to recruit a Customs & Excise Manager to be based in Hamburg. This is a pivotal role within Prax's growth and contributes to its horizontal integration and geographic expansion.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Overall responsible person for customs and export control matters for Harvest Energie GmbH as the holder of various customs authorisations and also for the German and EU customs matters of the Prax Group
    • Apply for customs approvals on behalf of and give advice on customs and excise procedures and international trade
    • Deal with customs and excise arrangement for Gdansk and Rostock
    • Ensuring smooth day-to-day business and acting as the first point of contact for all questions relating to foreign trade, as well as direct contact for customs authorities and customs agents
    • Coordinate with outsourced tax/customs provider for transfer of responsibilities, statutory compliance issues, and licensing arrangements.
    • Make customs applications on behalf of Harvest Energie GmbH and our financing company
    • Link in with finance, commercial and operations teams to ensure timely applications and payments.
    • Build relationships with clients and get to know their supply chains.
    • Awareness of all customs and excise authorisations that are required on behalf of the company and identify any future simplifications that may be available
    • Respond to customs related enquiries including commodity coding, trade preference, customs and excise duties, valuation, and customs transit.
    • Ensure knowledge of statutory compliance and practices is maintained in line with current legislation/through continuous professional development.
    • Create and maintain records for accounts, budgeting, and contract purposes

    Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

    ESSENTIAL

    • Good Experience completing customs and excise entries.
    • Experience within oil industry and imports and exports (hands on)
    • Good communication and leadership skills

    DESIRABLE

    • Relevant professional qualifications
    • Fluency in business German & English
    • Ability to meet demanding deadlines, often with competing priorities.
    • Flexible and adaptable in approach
