    WaveLight GmbH is a global leader in developing and producing innovative laser systems for use in eye surgery, as well as surgical planning and image guidance for cataract surgeries. Since 2009, WaveLight has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alcon, enabling gentle and highly precise correction of vision impairment.

    We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual for the role of Software Development Engineer (m/w/d) focusing on EOL support, troubleshooting, and collaboration in Teltow, near Berlin.

    In this role, a typical day will include:

    • Updates software to support changes related to end-of-life (EOL) parts and software
    • Troubleshoots anomalies and field issues, evaluates supplier hardware changes for impact to software, and defines recommended solutions
    • Works closely with customer-facing teams, acting as a liaison for investigations and troubleshooting activities
    • Provides input for software documentation updates as required for development projects and changes
    • Collaborates with Product Security teams to support the implementation of cybersecurity updates and changes
    • Works closely with onshore and offshore Software Verification and Validation teams to supply inputs for test cycles and software changes. Confirms the validity and scope of test methods and approaches
    • Works closely with onshore and offshore software development teams to support updates to software deliverables throughout the development life cycle.
    • Maintains software configuration management in accordance with company policies and procedures

    WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

    • Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline with 5 years of experience
    • Fluent English knowledge
    • Must have C++ and QT development experience and be passionate about software development
    • Highly desired skills: WPF, C#. Other desirable skills include .NET, SQL
    • Familiar with object-oriented software design and large software architecture
    • Ability to work cross-functionally with a variety of stakeholders
    • Ability to work independently, proactively identify issues, recommend, and implement solutions, and deliver quality results on schedule while managing multiple tasks and internal customers
    • Willingness to occasionally travel to Erlangen to collaborate with the team there
