Research Associate (M/F/d)
with the focus on
"Vision-based analysis and handling of nanomaterials"


The position is full time (100%), pay rate E13 TV-L, for a period of 25 months,
starting at the earliest on , with the possibility of extension.


YOUR FOCUS:


The primary focus of your research work is to use automated imaging processing to guide the robotic manipulation of nanomaterials and to evaluate their subsequent deformation behaviour within the optical microscope and scanning electron microscope environment.

In addition to conventional automated image processing techniques novel approaches based on machine learning may also be implemented.

You will work closely with a team of academic researchers to support their imaging processing and automation requirements in a variety projects within the fields of Nanoscience and Engineering.

You should be motivated to enter the laboratory and make yourself familiar with important instrumentation, including microscopes and robotic hardware.

You should be driven to integrate your own customized software frameworks with existing instrumentation for the purpose of providing closed-loop control and to improve functionality.


YOUR PROFILE:


  • Completed scientific university degree at Master's level, preferably in mechatronics, computer science or another relevant course of study.
  • Extensive expertise in programing languages (C++/C, Python, MATLAB).
  • Experience in automated image processing (for example, robotic control via machine vision).
  • Experience with hardwaresoftware interfacing (developing instrumentspecific software frameworks).
  • Knowledge of control systems and signal regulation.
  • Very good command of English language.
  • Good command of German language (desirable).
  • Engagement in teaching within the Department of Computing Science (2 LVS per semester).
