Duties:


  • Plans and performs Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security management functions in all security disciplines.
  • Manages and monitors all security actions and procedures necessary for the accreditation of Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs).
  • Performs oversight of more than 20 SCIFs within SOCAFRICA by providing expert security guidance, compliance monitoring, and conducting inperson Staff Assistance Visits (SAVs) and inspections throughout Germany and Africa.
  • Processes requests for SCI access of positions within subordinate activities across the African continent.

  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 60085, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on a T5 (or equivalent level) investigation with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) will be required 50% or more of the time.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain medical and administrative clearance for deployment to locations in Africa. Please see Qualifications section for more information.
  • Designated Mission Essential Position: Required to report for duty during inclement weather, Natural Disasters, and other emergency situations as directed by the Commander. Please see Qualifications section for more information.
  • This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program. Please see Qualifications section for more information.

  • To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience equivalent to the GG/GS[12] that prepared you to do this job. Specialize experience is defined and experience which includes implementing Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security policies and procedures and operating Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs). This definition of specialize experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level in the Federal service.
  • Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligencerelated security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain medical and administrative clearance for deployment to locations in Africa in accordance with U.S. Africa Command Theater Medical Readiness guidance ACI series) "Force Health Protection Requirements and Medical Guidance for Entry into the United States Africa Command Theater."

  • If an employee brings a child to an overseas location and that child is entitled to attend a DoD school on a spacerequired basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation , the DoDEA and the Military Department responsible for providing related services will ensure that the child, if eligible for special education, receives a free appropriate public education, including related services pursuant to DoDI and DoDM
  • If an employee brings an infant or toddler (up to 3 years of age) to an overseas location, and that infant or toddler, but for the child's age, is entitled to attend the DoDEA on a spacerequired basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation , then the Military Department responsible for Early Intervention Services (EIS) will provide the infant or toddler with the required EIS in accordance with the eligibility criteria consistent with DoDI and DoDM 13
