- Regularly assess the competitive landscape and analyze sustainability trends & ongoing initiatives within the life science industry, among customers, key suppliers, as well as within Leica Microsystems (LMS) and the wider Danaher network.
- Drive the formulation, implementation, and periodic evaluation of a unique sustainability strategy for Leica Microsystems encompassing all pertinent areas (e.g., greenhouse gas emissions, supply chain sustainability, renewable energy, waste reduction, product design/circular economy, customer sustainability assessments).
- Represent Leica Microsystems in pertinent Danaher sustainability forums and industry associations, forging robust connections with sustainability leaders across Leica Microsystems, Danaher entities, and external industry figures, utilizing critical insights to shape and enhance Leica's sustainability endeavors.
- Contribute to Leica's employer branding efforts and craft essential communication initiatives to promote stakeholder engagement and ensure wide-ranging internal and external visibility of the sustainability program and its progress, alongside fostering strong employee involvement.
- Lead a cross-functional team within the global Leica Microsystems matrix organization to devise and oversee relevant initiatives, ensuring successful strategy implementation.
- Hold a University Degree in Life Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field as a prerequisite; an MBA and/or post-graduate education is desirable.
- Possess substantial experience in sustainability-related domains - preferably within the life science sector - including several years of effectively spearheading sustainability programs, effecting business transformations, and achieving tangible outcomes towards ambitious net-zero targets in a global context (proficient in English).
- Demonstrate extensive familiarity with sustainability practices, pertinent laws, and regulations, coupled with a solid grasp of the life science landscape and a broad network among key sustainability influencers.
- Prove to be a results-focused strategic-analytical problem-solver capable of translating complex data into impactful and distinctive strategies, as well as adept at formulating concise and compelling communications tailored to specific audiences.
- Excel in fast-paced, performance-driven environments, showcasing exceptional time management and organizational competencies to navigate competing priorities and evolving business requirements.
