    Scientific researcher (postdoc) computational / bioinformatics in translational tumor immunology - DM.18.24b: Charité

    Working at the Charité

    The Max-Eder research group led by Dr. med. Livius Penter is looking for a highly motivated computational postdoctoral research fellow in the field of translational tumor immunology with a focus on blood malignancies and stem cell transplantation.
    The aim of our group is to dissect how tumor and immune cells interact and to develop strategies to achieve long-term tumor control using therapeutic immunomodulation based on modern single cell genomics / spatial transcriptomics sequencing methods and primary human blood or bone marrow samples.
    Our approach entails deep analyses of our own and public immunogenomic single cell and bulk datasets, followed by in-vitro validation experiments.

    Job Overview

    • Planning and supervision of single cell, bulk and spatial sequencing experiments in collaboration with other members of the group
    • Analysis of single cell datasets (single cell RNA / DNA / TCR / ATAC sequencing)
    • Analysis of spatial datasets
    • Analysis of immunogenomics datasets (i.e., T cell and B cell receptor sequencing; whole-exome sequencing, etc.)
    • Development of custom sequencing methods and analysis pipelines
    • Management and processing of raw data on cluster infrastructure
    • Planning and supervision of follow-up experiments in collaboration with other members of the group (for example co-culture experiments with T cells and tumor cells; reexpression of TCR; etc.)

    The postdoctoral fellow will be embedded in the work of the Max-Eder research group led by Livius Penter which aims to answer translational tumor immunologic questions in the context of blood malignancies using cutting-edge immunogenomics data analysis. A focus of the work will be data analysis using custom analysis solutions.
    Beside independent projects, the postdoctoral fellow will supervise and guide the work of PhD, master and medical students.

    We aim to work in an international and collaborative environment together with partners in the Berlin area, for example at
    the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH) or Berlin Institute for Medical System's Biology (BIMSB) on relevant projects with high impact. We put an emphasis on the individual career development (conference abstracts, paper, own funding) of all our team members.

    Scientific staff is given sufficient time to carry out their own scientific work in accordance with their employment relationship.

    Required:

    • Completed doctoral degree with deep knowledge of computational methods and complex omics data analyses
    • Strong programming skills in R, Python, shell, or similar languages in a UNIX environment
    • Previous experience in the above mentioned sequencing methods
    • Interest in collaborative work environment within the group
    • Knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Interest in learning and developing novel sequencing and bioinformatics analysis methods.
    • Critical and independent working style.
    • Interest in immunological and tumorgenetic questions, as well as a combination of wet and dry lab work
    • Interest in collaborating with national and international research groups
    • Excellent proficiency in both written and spoken English
    • Strong organizational skills

    Job Information

    • Pay scale E13 according to TVöD- VKA- K. The grouping takes place under consideration of the qualification, the respective experience level is calculated from the completed professional years. The annual salary (gross) is given for a full-time position without annual bonus, allowances and additional services. You can find the collective agreement here
