Our R&D group "Ultrasonic Flow Metering", located in HPS, is working on enhancements and new product developments of high-precision devices for flow measurements targeting the industrial gas market. The position advertised here is located at Mainz-Kastel, close to Frankfurt, which constitutes the Honeywell Center of Excellence – Ultrasonics. The site hosts a broad R&D organization that covers all development areas as well as on-site production and is excellently embedded in Honeywell's international ecosystem.
ROLE OBJECTIVE
In this position as Senior Signal Processing Expert, you will be an essential part of the Ultrasonic Flow Metering development team. The purpose of this role is to contribute to incremental and radical Ultrasonic Meter development projects through the improvement of existing and the development of novel signal processing algorithms. Analyze and improve field tool performance through simulation and treatment of real data in both time series and spectral domains. A strong mathematical and data analytical background is essential for this job.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Design and evaluation of innovative digital signal processing concepts in the context of ultrasonic time-of-flight flow measurement
· System modelling and simulation of flow measurement process values to enable hardware-in-the-loop testing of processing subsystems. Evaluation of model accuracy based on large experimental data measurements.
· Development of numerical algorithms for digital signal processing with regards to reliability, robustness, reproducibility and speed
· Collaboration with our DSP and FPGA development team in the definition of requirements and system specifications
· Contributing to IP development to expand and promote team capabilities
· System-Architecture and guidance to software implementation for high performance hardware, from design through to verification and optimization
You must have
· Several years of professional experience in the development and implementation of algorithms for signal processing in Matlab and/or other scripting languages. Experience with AI/ML in these areas is an advantage
· Knowledge in the areas of Artificial Intelligence (AI) / Machine Learning (ML) & Deep Learning (DL), digital signal processing, sensor signal processing and time of flight detection
· Strong Mathematical/Statistical/Physics/Signal Processing fundamentals
Nice to have
· Single/Multi-objection optimization with Python libraries, like Pymoo
Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM), Non-dominated Sorting Generic Algorithm (NSGA), Signal decomposition and filtering algorithm technics
· Profound knowledge of control theory. Experience in system identification, creation of physical models and simulation in Matlab/Simulink desirable
· Expertise in execution of Simulink models on real-time hardware targets (dSPACE, Speedgoat, NI PXI, etc.) to implement hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems
